AI Institute for Next-Generation Food Systems Drone Curriculum

Welcome to the AI Institute for Next-Generation Food Systems (AIFS) drone curriculum. We’re so glad you’re here!

In the curriculum following, click on the syllabus. You’ll see a total of 7 modules. The first four modules introduce students to careers and opportunities with drones and teach them the basics to start flying from key safety regulations to both manual and programmed flight.

The next two modules are a deep dive into more advanced topics with professional applications from planning a flight mission to image processing.

Our last module is the Supervised Agricultural Experience (SAE). The SAE enables students to apply the concepts they’ve learned to a challenging, large-scale project using drones whether that’s research or a business idea and are required to produce a final presentation that consists of their findings or a detailed proposal for a business project.

As you’ll see in the syllabus, each of our modules comprise of lectures with slides and guided notes to introduce students to challenging concepts, quizzes to reinforce learning, and activities to provide a hands-on application of that module. In the tabs on the left, you’ll find more resources to supplement your classroom.

This curriculum is still undergoing refinement and changes. We’d really appreciate if you could leave feedback regarding your implementation here and share with friends here.

Feel free to e-mail us anytime if you have any questions, concerns, or feedback: aifs@ucdavis.edu.

Happy Learning!
